My taillights quit working for some reason, my headlights and front park lights work, so do my brake lights and turn signals, just no rear park lights??? I have a flatbed with these type of trailer taillights on them: Peterson Round Trailer Tail Light, 2 Stud Mounting, Right Hand Peterson Trailer Lights 431800
The PO liked to do his own wiring obviously and had wires strung all over the rear end of the truck, I hunted down wires for an half hour and got rid of all the old trailer plugs. Now that I have got the area cleaned up, I would like to know does anybody know where I should start after this?
Have you actually checked with a test light or voltmeter right at the tail lights to see if you have power? That would be the first step. Could be as simple as burned out bulbs... If its a flatbed with a hacked up wiring job, your best bet might be to trace the wires back up to the front to the point that it hasnt been hacked up. Cut the wires off there and start ripping and tearing. Go buy some nice 3 wire cord and just start over.
it could also be the plug in the lights are either corroded or just plain need to be replaced. Is there an off chance there is a fuse blown going direct to the park lights? Maybe something the PO added when doing the light conversion, or a fuse block hid unde the truck somewhere?
ok I feel relieved but like an idiot now, I checked the wires with a test light and still couldn't get the taillights to work whatever I did, and I was just about to cut up the wiring harness when I realized the plug at the front of the truck under the hood was unplugged!!!
