Only XLT, or XL. I looked into it, but decided a laptop had 1000 times the usefulness of that thing. If I was you, go the Lariat, and get the NAV system. The wireless printer is just a HP product. You can buy it anywhere and connect it to your laptop. There is a toollink feature that looks cool with that system, but I've heard if you put your tools in a bed mounted tool box, then the system will not read them. I like the idea, but it needs a lot of help before I invest in it.
I could very easily be wrong about this, but I believe I read elsewhere that the work solutions system was basically on hiatus due to a "software issue" and that if you actually ordered a truck with it, it would indefinitely delay your order because they were not installing them due to whatever issue it is.
As an IT guy by trade, you would do well to just get a laptop and your own printer if you need it. There are some fairly elegant mounting systems for laptops in our trucks from the likes of RAM Mounts, etc.
Yea get yourself a good business class laptop and a small travel printer if you need it.
If you need an internet connection, Verizon offers the EVDO USB devices or some smart phones offer the modem feature, such as the Blackberry Bold.
I use a Dell Latitude that connects via bluetooth to my Blackberry Bold and connects to the internet using the phone's data plan.
In larger cities I'm better off with my blackberry vs a hotel network where some tend to block VPN traffic or charge for internet access.
I checked into it as well and that time it was limited to the XLT package or below. I agree with the others that buying a PC and printer combination would give you more usefulness. The system is a Windows CE based unit and I have owned a PDA with that platform. Very limited capability.
Another thought is to check out the iPad 2 as a possible solution. Just got mine (I am using it now for this reply). If you get one with a 3G package and an AirPrint printer, it might handle everything you throw at it. I just saw an ad from MountMe iPad Freedom Mounting Bracket - Carry or Mount your iPad -MountMe :: Freedom Mount on solutions for mounting them in vehicles. Not sure it will work in the truck, but am checking it out.
I also checked out the DeWalt Tool Link package. I really wanted it for hunting season. With all of the stuff I take along for each season, it would have been great to tag them accordingly to make sure I had what I needed with me. It came down to the Nav or it.
