I have a 91' Ranger that is giving my fits. When I turn on the headlights I don't have any marker lights, even when I have the switch in the marker light position they don't come on. I have to pull the lever somewhere between the headlight & marker light position for them to come on. I have tried 3 headlight switches but it still is not working right. Anyone with some advice on what to check next would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
well sounds like your goin to have to get a check light rod, and star testing all your grounds and powers in the light system, or just rewire the light strait from the battery,
Have you checked the fuses?.....
I am dealing with the same problem on my Bronco II, turns out the PO shorted and melted the wires for the parking lights......The color code for parking lights SHOULD be a solid brown wire in the harness, so you can intercept it and try to power them separately for testing.
The older pull-type headlight switch is famous for melting the connector where the wires plug into the switch. When this occurs, the park lights are usually the first item to act up. Having a trailer light harness tends to make this problem even more frequent, due to the added load on the headlight switch.
We found out that the rod that slides in the switch is wore out. We have to position it just right & everything will work. Looks like a trip to the junkyard is in order. At least these are easy to get to. Thanks for the insight guys.
