If you didn't flush out the system it still has Mineral oil in it. R-134A requires "Pag" oil. the two are NOT compatable. When mixed they form a "jelly" that will sieze the compressor and turn it into junk..............

Well dang. We searched google quite a bit before this and couldnt find any really helpful info. If we had known this, today would've gone alot different. A $100-150 mistake... =(

Is there a write-up you guys know about?

alot of those retro fit kits used to come with a charge of oil to eliminate this issue, pag is r12 and 134 compatable. if they pulled vacum on it, they should be ok there.

This truck may have R134a in it. 95 was when it became maditory, but some automakers changed over earlier than that. In this pic, read what the little sticker on the black cyl says, that will tell you if the refrigerant is R-12 or R-134a, and which direction you need to take to repair it.

Well, havent done anything the past couple days. Eoc's and everything are coming up in like a week. Been falling asleep as soon as i get home. That coupled with the fact that my dad is about to quit his job and go to work for another company is nice. He goes and meets with the people he will be working with to go over plans for a stretch of I-85 he will be working on. We're both busy...

On a seperate note, the manual toyota that i saw a while back is still up. The woman said she could only do $850. Its been a couple weeks now so i just sent her an email saying i was interested and offered her $750. Im hoping that this "first car" persona will work its magic.... Lol. If she only knew. Hope none of you are related to her... I've been looking at some of the offroad forums for toyotas, and what people do to them for offroading. Its pretty amazing. And its all relatively cheap. If she says yes i hope my dad feels like i do about it.

The ford will be the road queen and the toyota the pig to learn to drive stick on, and then turn into a trail rig.

I feel bad not having the same amount of updates i used to...

If you really want to see how badly you can beat the Schite out of a Toyota check out Top Gear UK. They've tried to kill theirs 3 times.

We took off the clutch part of the compressor and cleaned it. It was scored pretty badly, obviously it was shooting the sparks. Then we put it back on and no sparks for a little while then they came right back. So i guess a new one is in order. Lately i've just been really tired. Sophmoreitis i guess... June 9th schools out. Or june 7th, if i pass all my tests...

In other news, my brother wants to build a go-kart... We have two rototillers, which we dont use with the horizontal drive, so maybe 2 karts are in order. He wants to build a 2-seater, i want a 1 seater... We've always wanted some sort of go-kart, dirtbike, thing of that nature, but we never knew how and our dad didnt want to spend money. But we've got the right engine(s) and a friend who is an amazing welder. So yeah, you know... I'm gonna see if i can get one of the motors running tomorrow...

I say if the motors are the same HP then make one cart with two motors. one motor for one wheel and and motor for the other. Grant it that you would have to have the shafts both go towards the tire leaving one exhaust pointed to the back and the other pointed towards the back seat. You'd have to make an exhaust for them so they both point backwards. Then when you get that figured out, use a dual peddal like the 555 backhoes that lock and unlock so you can use both motors at times and one at the others for easy doughnuts
