I have a dilema as to where to mount my spare tire. Currently it is mounted in the bed of the truck in the left side behind the wheel well. I've been doing dump runs, hay delivery and so on for local folks and would like to maximize the space in the bed. I've seen what I call "off road baskets" mounted over the cabs of trucks from time to time. I think they look pretty cool and would be a good place to mount lights all the way around for night work or while off road, shovel, high-lift jack, and the spare tire. I'm not too worried about a decrease in mileage as my truck gulps down the fuel. Are any of you folks running such a setup? I'd hate to show up at 4 Wheel Parts or somewhere else and be empty handed as far as knowledge goes. Thanks for any help.

I've seen them on new super duty's that work in the oil fields. If I see another one soon, I'll find out what brand it is and get any feedback I can from the driver.

I'd surely appreciate the information. I think such a setup would be perfect for my rig..
Cool stuff, the Yakima system has it all. Jack, tire, and tool mount. Just wondering the best way to lock the spare, probably not a big deal unless I get the black Mickey Thompson wheels I've been eyeing. It's pricey stuff but it's what I asked for.. Thanks folks!
