why is it complicated? I'm a forum admin and use vBulletin. This is why I won't become a supporter here.
I believe what's complicated is the fact that IB doesn't want to lose advertising revenue. The mobile device version of the site has ads on it, Tapatalk does not. I'm even occasionally getting pop up ads on my phone when viewing the mobile site. If they started using Tapatalk, a large number of mobile device users would not see the ads and it would decrease the value of those ads.
I know it was said in another thread on this that ads are not the reason, but I have a hard time believing that. After all, selling ads is what keeps IB in business and keeps websites like this running.
It's a little old but whatever, I'm sure IB and his team of admins and mods have their own reason for not using Tapatalk. I *highly* doubt it is related to not having adds show when mobile users are viewing the forums, reason being is because the ads are probably NOT the main source if funding for the website, and I doubt it is even close to half of it. I think that the main income is from supporters and from selling merchandise on the website. There are a lot of supporters which give a lot of funding to run the servers and keep the site up. I'm sure the admins might also trickle a little of their own cash into it when they need to but the ads are probably only a very small amount of money. Especially considering how little there are.
IMO I think the mobile site is great, yeah it has limited functionality but it isn't hard to swap over to the full website to go visit those places that the mobile site cannot access. I think it would be best to keep improving the mobile site, make it faster and more reliable, then maybe allow it to visit a few more places of the site that it can't already visit now. Just my opinion though
