window rolls down, but not back up
That helps temporarily. You still need to disassemble and clean the internal contacts for the switch, or just replace the switch. Otherwise this will happen again and again, and eventually the door slam won't work anymore.
Need to check the wiring in the drivers side boot between the door and the cab.
I had an issue with my brothers 2004 f150 extended cab. The window in the rear drivers side would go down, but wouldn't go back up. I traced it to the drivers side wiring between the door and the cab. It was a grey with a orange stripe thst had broke inside the boot. I used machine wire 12 awg and 2 butt crimps and it solved the problem. Now a week earlier I had a problem with none of the windows going down or the door locks were not working either and the radio would stay on if you didn't shut it off while getting out of the truck. I found a black ground wire had broken in the boot between the door and the cab. I again spliced that back together using number 12 awg machine wire and 2 butt crimps. Ford really should of had a better design on this, but if I have any more problems I will be looking in the same place that I had found the other 2 broken wires. I hope this helps someone that is having the same issues.
Be very careful when taking burned out motors off of the window regulators. I knew better, but let myself get distracted. When the window is down there is a lot of spring tension on the regulator, when the motor comes off the springs unwind very very fast! An ER visit and 6 stitches later.....
You were both unlucky and lucky. Unlucky because it caught your finger, but luck because it didn't take it off. I got hit once by a spring loaded regulator arm, but it hit the palm of my hand instead of my finger. It still stung like hell.
Just encountered the same issue with my 2005.
Driver side rear rolled down but will not go up. Pushing down button from either front or rear door results in motor spinning. Pushing down button from either front or rear door results in motor spinning and a grinding sound for about 1.5 seconds then nothing.

The regulator is toast or the motor isn't tight on it.
Plastic piece that the cable passes through on the regulator broke. Probably $5 piece of plastic cost $120 to replace the whole regulator. I now have a spare motor if anyone needs one.
My Power Window Switch Mystery
I read the great posts here but still have a puzzler.... My 2003 Ford Expedition has only one power window problem. If the front passenger uses the switch in their armrest to let the window down, they can not let the window back up. But using the driver's master switch panel, you can raise the front passenger window back up.
Not the biggest problem in the world but I go on a lot of long trips and my fishing buddies finally goaded me into fixing it.
So I ordered a new Ford Motorcraft master window switch and had no problem taking out the old one and putting in the new one.
Here's the mystery - the front passenger switch now works to let the front passenger window both up and down. So the new master switch solved the problem I was trying to fix. However, now the drivers window won't go up or down.
I put the old master switch back in and have the same problem as I started with and can move the drivers window both up and down again.
What could be causing this?
I'd really like to fix this but it's got me scratching my head
Any ideas?
Mark

Perhaps the new switch is the wrong switch or it is defective.
Drivers window
Hello, I'm trying to fix my elderly father's 08 taurus drivers window. The power window works going down. When going up the window will stop halfway up and then bounce back (lower about 1 inch). It will not go any further up. Looking for help, thanks.
I am Having this problem with my 2004 F150 supercrew. The drivers side rear window will power down with both the drivers master switch and the passengers switch, but not up with either the drivers or passengers switch.
No noise of any kind when pressing the up switch. There's power to the switch. And I tried swapping the switch out with the one on the opposite door that I know works. So I don't think it's the switch.
Checked the wires in the boots between the frame and the doors (Both drivers door and passengers door). I had the drivers window go dead last year and it was a broken wire in this area, so I know what I'm looking for.
The wires in these areas look good. What else to check??

The power first runs through the master (driver's) switch then off to the door switch. Which means the problem could be the master switch.
Here is the window wiring diagram for the pick-ups and the second is for supercrew cabs.

This has got me completely stumped. I tore into the door and pulled the plug out of the window motor. Put my test light on the pins. Toggle the window switch up, one wire goes hot. Toggle the switch down, the other wire goes hot.
So I think it must be the motor or regulator. I purchased the whole assembly. It came in today and I put it in the door. No go. Powers down, nothing for up.
