My truck(96' PSD) has been starting hard. It may start fine for a few days then act up for a few days. It only does it when it sits for 5+ hours, but not everytime. The temps have been from teens to 50's it doesnt matter how warm it is outside. This has been getting progressively worse over the last 6-8 weeks.
Also I have an oil leak somewhere that has also been getting progressively worse for the same amount of time. after a 8+ mile trip it will leave a small puddle after sitting for an hr or so. The oil is leaking down onto the oil filter then onto the ground. If It sits for only 30mins or so then it wont drip........Any ideas where to start checking?
Check your HPOP reservoir after it has been sitting for 5+ hours to see if it has drained down. That will cause slow start.
Check the passenger valve cover. In particular the little dog house looking box on top of it. That has o-rings that can leak and will run down the side of the engine.
Hi, well my son got his 95psd back together after replacing plug on bottom of HPOP, now truck will not start, was running when we pulled HPOP
Has fuel,HPOP resivour is full, have oil pressure while cranking, block heater plugged in,crank case full, battery charger hooked up,have oil coming out plugs on head, removed ICP to fool PCM.
Can get to fire when fuel is put into intake.
Checked fuel lines going to F/R looks right, one is too short to put on wrong.
Its really annoying when you try to improve something and it makes it i
know we are missing something but what
Well its been 3days since i changed the plug on bottom of HPOP truck still
will not start, last thing that is happening is as i am cranking it over i noticed that there was fuel smoke coming out of intake as if there was a valve open and blowing back out thru the turbo.
We are are probaly going to waste a lot money tomorrow but having towed to a garage, but junk yard is a better bet.
The sick part about this fiasco is i drove the truck home when the oil leak
got worst and all i did was try to make the piece junk better.
Junk yard is not the answer. I understand all about being pissed off. I've made gaint steps forward and also gaint steps backwards. When I replaced my HPOP I cranked on it what seemed like forever. When it ran before, did it run good? I doubt you have a stuck valve, fuel smoke is normal when cranking alot. If you get it going again, don't shut it off, it has to bleed out the air in the HPOP system. Hang in there, good luck!
