Shock Bolt Torque

Gonna do the front shocks on my 03 2wd tomorrow morning. I went to the local "li-berry" to take a look at the book and they refer to two lower retaining nuts at 22-29 ft lbs and one retaing nut for the 4wd at 57-76 ft lbs.

Now, as I said above I have a 2003 Expedition 2 wheel drive and unless I am a total moron there is just one bolt on the bottom of my shocks. Thats a far cry from two. So, I want to verify the torque for the top and bottom before I get started.

Thanks,

Jeffrey

The site that came from said that everthing is in ft/lbs unless otherwise noted.

Its a big honkin' bolt. Should I utilize my normal method and just tighten the crap out of it?

Three upper nuts on the mounting
plate to the frame = 29 lb-ft
Tie rod nut = 111 lb-ft
Lower shock nut & bolt = 295 lb-ft
Upper shock nut to mounting plate = 22 lb-ft

Use a GOOD spring compressor to prevent serious injury!

I am all for using proper torque procedures for some parts of my vehicles but I have never messed with using a torque number when installing my shocks no materr if 2 wheel drive or 4. Sure when it comes with heads and important parts like that , go for torgue. I am not saying that shocks are not important but come on, when its tight, it will be tight.
