Need Help. Low Power , light engine knock until engine is warm.
Sorry for asking about things that have been asked before. Ive searched and been reading post for 2 days and cannot find information.
My 2004 F250 6.0 cranks fine , but it has very low power and slight engine knock until engine warms up , normaly 10 to 15 mins until warm, the first time high idle kicks in the knock gets loader and i touch throttle to disingage high idle to allow it to get warm . After engine is warm could not ask for a better running truck. Thought it was just because of cold weather , but now even at 70 degree days its acts the same. I have changed oil, oil filters , fuel filter to what was recommed on this site.
Ive pulled and cleaned EGR valve, small amount of build up but was not sticking open. Thinking of disconnecting it and removing throttle body valve. Is this a good idea to do or not.
Just want to thank everone for this site. I have learned alot being first time diesel owner.
Possible you have injector stiction? What oil are you running? Sometimes 5-40 syn can help ease that rough running when the injectors are acting up. Not saying thats the problem, but mine would have what sounded like a knock only until I reached about 100 ECT then it smoothed out and ran great. switched to T6 5-40 syn and the stiction problem has just about went away except on the coldest of starts. Just something to consider.
