Rear spring relocating

How do you locate the rear springs to where there under the chassis rather than attached to the side of it?
Also how big of a wheel & tire combo can you put under the rear of a 61-66 by doing this? I remember there used to be an article on here that told you how to do this but I can't find it in the articles section anymore.

Without thought for wheel wells you can place 31x21.5x15 hoosier pro street radials.

Stock wells will need to be modified.

The front needs a new bracket mounted to the bottom of the frame and a new bushing hanger added for the rear. Use heavy duty shackles. It will look similar to the front leaf hangers for a 61 to 64 in reverse. The frame will need a deep notch if the axle is flipped to clear the u bolts and hardware.

Another trick is to remove the brackets, box the frame and remount the stock brackets to the inside of the frame. Uses all the stock components and allow for the big meats.

What will need to be done to the stock wheel weels? Will they need to be widened or lengthened? I would like to go with the stock wheel wells & I've widened them for people with another set. I like that look!
I was talking to a buddy of mine last night after posting this & he was telling me to put the hangers on the inside of the frame rails & then flipping the axle, I think I would like that best.
Would I be able to buy a C notch kit or hve to build one?

Wells will need to be wider and extend in to the bed. They need ot be past the outer face of the frame to allow full tire clearance.

A C notch is a easy do it your self. There are C notch kits out there your choice.

To place the big meats you will need to narrow the rear. Have this done at a shop that has the correct tooling to do this.

Thanks for the help here. I'm in the process of buying a 63. I want to go the sort of old school look & lower it as well. I have a buddy that back halves a lot of cars that can help me with everything. I just wanted to figure out in my head how to do it & what all I'll need.
