E-Guard is installed on side and rear cargo doors and is available with either power or manual door locks. The double lock design provides an extra layer of protection, as the E-Guard double lock can only be unlocked from outside the vehicle using the key.
For example, on vehicles with power lock systems, the key fob or interior switch can be used to lock all doors and double-lock the side and rear cargo doors. While the key fob will unlock the front doors, the cargo doors can only be unlocked with the key.
Why or how is this an issue for you and the other techs? If its a known option or feature working around or with it should become second nature.
I've seen the aftermarket versions of what you describe but it can work in conjunction with the PDL's or separately though-----it has to be power or manually unlocked, keys won't actuate it.
Who ever did the ordering, over the last year, ordered some vans w/it , some w/out. It is not a problem if you don't mind hauling out your keys to unlock the back and side door, everytime you go out to get some thing out of the van, say you are in an area of higher crime are and feel you need to keep your doors locked. Used to lock and unlock all doors w/da key fob. This E guard is just a pain in the *** and I would love to disable it if it was possible but I am sure it is not.
