Hey how big should i make my box?Its for an 8 inch sub. cause i heard somewhere it should be like .6 to .8 cubic feet or somthing. if you could give me the dimentions in Hight x length x width that would be great.
It usually depends on the brand and model of the sub, if you have those, we can give more accurate info. Also if you prefer sealed, bandpass or ported. Sealed will give tighter, more accurate bass response, but will require more power. Ported boxes will give you deeper bass but tend to be larger. Bandpass boxes also offer very deep bass but only within a certain frequency range, and they also tend to be larger than sealed.
well its just a POS 8 inch i got from x-s cargo haha dont know much for specs
its hooked up to a 80 watt 2 way amp i put a 150 milla amp capacitor on it
the sub is 27hz-1.2khz i was thinking of putting a bigger cap on it to cut out the unwanted high notes since the amp doesnt have a fillter got any ideas on what size of cap i should move up to ?
You should not have an inline capacitor. Based on your value of 150, I'm assuming you have a 150 microfarad capacitor runned inline to your positive terminal on your sub. This particular size of capacitor would allow frequencies ABOVE 265 hz to reach your sub. Instead, you might want to look into getting an inline inductor that has a value of around 8 millehenries.
Honstly, I would scratch that entire idea. For the price of such a value of inductor, you might as well get one of them cheep electronic subwoofer crossovers. After searching eBay, I came up with these hits:
