brakes act funny

well the pedal will go down almost to the floor and it usually dont go that far and the pedal takes a second to return back and i can feel the brakes drag on the start of a pullout
only thing i did was pull the abs fuse but the abs isnt hooked up anyway on the truck but does the fuse control the moduel? but i unplugged that too the rabs we all hear is an issue

The power brake booster is also vacuum powered, but the brakes get harder to push when the diagram gets a hole in it or your vacuum leaks or your pump goes out. I don't think the pedal goes further to the floor .

not sure if vacuum would cause that problem or not so after you check if youre producing enough i"d look at the booster as a possible cause.

Vacuum would not cause that, you wouldn't be able to get it almost to the floor if you had a vacuum issue. Sound like your mater cylinder to me. Could be the pistons in the calipers also but thats unlikely.

See what it does with the engine off. Give it a few pumps to empty out the vaccum in the booster. Hold steady pressure, does it drop slowly?Let it sit a few seconds then push down on he pedal and note how far it goes down, then pump it 3-4 times andsee if it comes up. If it does it means you have air in the system or the rears need to be adjusted.

Does it sink to the floor slowly when you hold light pressure on the pedal? If so, your master cylinder is bad. If you press hard on the pedal and it stays firm, further confirmation your master cyl is bad. But it could also leak down under high pressure.

I think you have a mster cyl problem, but you may have a bad booster return spring.

Inside the booster, not a normal replacement item. The booster uses a rubber diaphragm, to separate atmospheric pressure from vacuum. It has a spring inside to return back to normal rest position.

power booster and master cylinder are a little cheaper when you buy them together as apposed to separate.
