Zf5 7.3 to 460?

I was wondering if this is applicable I have a 91 f350 7.3 would my tranny drop into a 90 f250 460 I've been told Yea but I want to be sure. Thanks in advance for any answers that might help this new member out

The top 2 bolt holes are in a different spot. The other 4 are the same, I don't recall if the pilot bearing was the same.

No, it will not properly fit, It can be hacked to fit!

I have seen 460 iZF5 modified to fit a 7.3 but cant say I have seen the reverse.

Also the 91 diesel zf5 has **** PORE gearing. MOST people want the gassers gearing or the 96/97 diesel gearing

If you go through the trouble of modifying, consider a zf6. Much better gearing.

I know of a guy who runs a 7.3 zf6 with his 460, he tows his car to the track...I've never gotten the opportunity to look under there to see what had to be done.

Does anyone have a pic of 460 and 7.3 pattern side by side?

perfect, doesnt get much better than that. its actually pretty shocking that they line up so close...id love a 550 zf6 combo.

Thanks for the quick response I was told otherwise before I looked into buyin another truck with 460 that needs transmission so now I'm out two trucks my diesel caught fire and having a hell of a time finding engine harness
