Cam bearing warn.. please help.
Hi guys, well got a 5.8 liter. Fully rebuilt. Had a cam ground for it so we could get lots of rpm performance. Been nothing but a ***** on fuel. bout 8 miles to the gallon. yeah that bad. Anyway, now we've got to pull the flywheel for a new ring gear so we just pulled the motor out. Since we're not sure about the cam, pulled it aswell. well we've found wear on the front Cam bearing. What looks like shine.. thats wear.. and what looks darker.. like a shade.. or say " satin " looking that is un worn and as installed brand new. There is no wear on the cam, no chunks missing just very apparent wear. I have no idea why the wear. But if Anyone could help as to diagnose what could be the culprit I would appreciate the help.

well, first of all, a 5.8 will never get good gas mileage.
Is it only one bearing that is worn that way or are all of them? Is it installed correctly?
As mentioned above, what kind of oil are you using. You need zinc in the oil with a flat tappet cam.
