hey guys i need your advice........i found a new drivers door for a 92-96 p/u truck. i have heard that lmc has there parts made overseas in china. i don't know if that is true or not. has anyone used body replacement parts from lmc and what do you think about the fit and finish of these parts on your truck. the person wants $200 for the door. i think its worth it but, i just want input from anyone that have heard or used parts from this company before i drop 2 bills for this door. i have heard from some people that the fit is not that good and the gap around the door is narrow and wide at some areas. will i be better off getting one from the dealer or is this lmc door just as good as the 1 from the dealer. thanks for the feed back in advance.
Have not bought any body parts from there but all the stuff I've bought from them is made in an overseas country. Usually Taiwan. Wasn't overly impressed with the thickness of leaf spring hangers I bought from them.
I'd take LMC over a dealer for a door, but I'd also be poking through the junkyard before either of those two choices. It's only OEM once.
For the replacement radiator core, I went with LMC, it was cheaper to get the same part from them, including shipping costs, sent from KC to SC than from NPD up in Charlotte O_o. For the doors, fenders, etc, I roamed the local P&P JY and got OEM metal. Case in point, 2 rear crew cab doors with no rust or dings or anything other than missing door panels from the local P&P for my '94 build $60 for the pair. 2 rear crew cab doors from FoMoCo $700 each (list is $900)
Not sure what country of origin it was made, but I purchased and installed an accelerator pedal spring from them that lasted only a few thousand miles before it broke. I paid roughly $12 for it including S&H. Since it didn't last as long as I would have liked, I'm looking for another source for the spring. The pedal, as an assembly, cost way more than I am willing to spend. BTW, the original spring lasted over 200K miles and almost 20 years of use.
The part I'm referring to can be seen here: LMC Truck Parts - Page 38 It's item 4 in the top illustration.
i would go 2 the junkyard since ford was the best selling truck for the past 30+years thats all i ever really see in there so parts like a door or fender r pretty cheap i can get 1 for like 20-50 up here in PA depending on the yard and the shape its in, but a bed is a different story im driving 6hrs up to NY 2 get a good bed off of a guy i meant on here.... i refused to put OE after market parts "body panels especially" on my truck thats y i would never use LMC or anyone else except for may a gas tank or something minor lots of time the FORD has the same part for just as much but sometimes not... but i believe NPD sell OEM (FORD) doors idk how much but u could check...
I have ordered many parts from lmc. Never been let down yet. I believe it says in their magazine that their sheet metal parts are made in china. I have never ordered a large body part, like a door, from them. Good luck.
have not bought body parts from LMC. I have bought a bunch of other things. Some stuff is pretty hard to find other places... some stuff is way over priced. ... I think they just hate me tho. Every time I order from there they sit on my order for like a week or two before they ship it.
I got my last set of doors off a guy on craigslist. got a set of pretty clean doors for $150 bucks.
im one that calls around and asks where its made if anywhere else but us or canada i dont bye it of course unless if i cant get it anywhere else call me crazy but its what i belive in
I just ordered an LMC catalog over the weekend, not that I'm ready to order but I want to look it over before I need to order anything. I was glancing at the online stuff, and I hope I read it wrong but I thought it said they wanted over 40 bucks for an oil dipstick tube!!- I'm thinkin I read it wrong.
But on the sheet metal, MY local P+P... everything is soo roughted out that ordering in would be only option.
well i got the door for 2 bills today. i went to the local jy to check things out and everything i saw were either dented or rusted. i just hope that this door will be good for fit and finish. the only thing now is that i need to rust proof the door. thanks for the help everyone.

You're not crazy. I'd rather help put food on a workers table here than on some guy's table in china.
People in china don't care if we starve.
I used to like LMC's catalogs and often used them for their diagrams if I didn't have any other reference. Most of their stuff is just overpriced crap except the OEM. The OEM is just overpriced.
