does anyone know why my overdrive light would blink only in park, its a 97 E350 van and its seems like when idleing you can here the motor rev up an down (occasionaly) also when running down the road it also revs up and down even though im at a steady pedal . ijust changed the speed control sensor in the rear theres no check engine light and the wait to start light is working.if this van dont work i dont work any help appreciated, thanks i think im readind theres another sensor in the trans and yes the EBP Iis unplugged
Does it blink only in park or while your driving too?You need to get a scan tool on it and check for a code. that should lead you to the problem.unfortunately when this happened to me i had to replace the tranny, mine was blinking in all gears.but definitely check for a code, hopefully it will be something minor. Good Luck

IIRC there is another in the trans .. I 'll see if I can get a hold of Bill ...
ok ill get a scan tool can i buy one at my local parts store it would be good to have how much are they and whats a good brand thanks guys . i really need this to be a cheap fix ,why this always got to happen when taxes are due lol
what ya mean trs system, are the scan tools all the same or do i need one special for my 7.3 ? the van is now kicking and bucking and sounds like the driveshaft is going to fall out when i come to a stop, its definetly gets better as the truck warms up , ill get scan tool today which one should i get? could the cam sensor have something to do with it
in neutral i get no light and idles fine in park the light comes and goes but when its on the engine rpms go up and down, when i put in reverse it takes about 5 seconds and then light comes on always, i pulled the sensor and it looks like its lined up ill have trans shop pull code in morning . i would like to know what scaner tool you guys recomend and are they worth owning , seems the info im getting at local parts store is since its a diesel truck the vtool might not work and is not returnable..
recommended on here is autoengineuity from clay at riffraff, need a laptop and not real cheap. Other is an aeroforce scan gauge, little cheaper, still kinda spendy though
ok i needed my van fixed (no van no work) took it to a shop that i have delt with in the past dropped it off tuesday night ,wednesday morning get a call saying there getting a 705 and 706 code ,range selector sensor 149.00 for the part and 1.5 hours labor saying its a lot of computor related work to set it up. ok 5 0clock wednesday night i call to c if done they inform me that there having a problem with the wirering harness that goes in the sensor . the problem is that 3 off the male pins are loose and corruted they need it another day. on thursday they found anew pig tale harness spliced it in and it can be picked up at 6pm. so when i get there he starts to explain to me that when it shifts or downshifts from overdrive it still might buck and be a little rought on the shifting for the first 50 to 100 miles then he gives me a bill for $603. so on the way home its like the same problem when i tookit there to begin with come on i think i just got screwed. i got a real good drive to do today but have a real strong feeling my van will be heading back to this place on a flatbed!!!!!!!!!!
