Rad. return bottle--Questions
It's an old truck I bought used. I never had a return bottle on it. Now I have a new cross flow rad. and want to install a return bottle.
Can someone explain how to install it.

Pretty simple really. Just need to mount the bottle around the same hieght at the top, as the top of rad. Make sure the hose from the rad either goes into the bottom of the bottle, or has an extension tube from the top that *almost* touches the bottom. Last step, make sure your rad cap has the seal at the top of the rad neck, not just at the bottom of the opening.
I guess it goes without saying that the hose needs to be sealed pretty good at both the bottle and rad niplle.

I zipp tied an old antifreeze bottle on my firewood truck. I drilled a hole in the screw cap to fit a hose, and ran the hose down to about an inch off the bottom of the bottle. The other end goes to the spout by the cap. Pour about a quart of coolant into the bottle, and shazam...... coolant recovery bottle, red neck style. Best part.... it works, and it's free.
