Really no reason you can't use the 67-72 as donors, it's just that the 73-79's usually have more of the equipment that you want a donor for in the first place. Things like power steering, power brakes, disc brakes, etc.etc.etc. Those options are WAY more common on the 73-79's. I could be wrong but I think some of those items even became standard equipment in the later yrs of the dent side.
