help? engine advice would be much ablidged.
Hey guys I got a 78 f150 with a 351m and c6 well its running on 6.5 cylinders right now. So being its on its last leg I'm in the market for a "new" motor. My uncle has 2 460s that I could possibly buy. One he wants 2500.. its is rebuilt, cam intake carb heads, block bored .30 over, headers everything is done on it. The other is out of a 77 mercury marquis it has 70,000 miles on it and never been tore open, he wants 400-600 for it. He said it ran good before her pulled it. He's a genius at these trucks I just want some extra advice. Ohh and I'm 16 years old and work at best buy making 8.25 an hour and the trucks my daily driver. I'm willing to throw money at her just not money I don't have.

Get the older motor, put a new early timing set in it, a decent carb on top and if you can find some good used headers put them on too, if not the first 2 should keep you going for quite some time.. You can use the same tranny, probably need a bigger radiator though maybe different engine perches.. Be prepared to do something with the trans soon though, might not take that 460 long to finish wearing it out.. and use the flexplate the 460 already has so your engine balance is good.. if you can find a better intake cheap that will help also, but for sure the timing setup and carb..
