OK; so, the problem is, they key-on stuff doesn't appear to be on when the switch is in
RUN but everything seems to work in ACC.

I'm agree with Kevin, this could most easily be caused by a mis-adjusted alignment of the
switch on the steering column, I'd begin there, make sure the tumbler is in LOCK as was
stated. In the testing phase, try jiggling the key tumblet a bit back and forward after it
springs back after START.

Do you have tilt wheel?

ive got a problem with my truck starting too, but when i turn my key all it does is click once. i have no other way to work and i have to park on hills to roll start it by popping the clutch and i know thats not good for the tranny. ive already replaced my selenoid thats mounted to the fenderwell, and my starter is getting the nessecary volts it needs for power and my ground wire is fine. anyone have suggestions? and id just post this or something but i just made my account and i dont know how to work the site yet.

Recheck all of your connections that they are tight and clean, have your starter tested at an auto parts store someplace. If you still can't get it started, you should start a new thread by going to the proper board for your model year (this one I assume) and click the "New Thread" icon on the left hand side. Explain your problem in detail, along with anything you done or replaced already. Hope this helps.

all4ford94,

Reinforcing what Kevin said.... If you start your own thread please be clear, precise and
thorough.

For example:

"Last week, I replaced the futzpah because the muffler bearings were making noise."

"Now, when I turn the key to START, all I hear is a single, loud, clunk."

"I measured 12.1V at the starter motor with the key OFF, it then dropped to 7.6 volts
with the key in START and the thick cable to the starter immediately got hot."

Precision & clarity is key here (good English & grammar usage helps) and keeps us
from having to ask as many questions (which leads to you getting it fixed faster).
