I have a 1990 F-150 XLT Super Cab. About the only option it doesn't have is power mirrors. I'd like to add the option as it is very handy.
Does anyone know if the wiring is already there, and just taped back on the harness? I'm hoping it's as easy as buying the switch panel and mirrors, and just plugging everything in (and maybe populating the fuse or breaker box).
If not,It shouldn't be to hard to wire them up. Just get the mirrows you want and get the right button for the door panel and then find a power source in the fuse panel. Start from the mirrows then run the wires to the button and then the power source.

TX, just a little suggestion, keep the driver's side non-power, this will cut the time and money for your mod by 1/2. I actually had OEM power mirrors, but my side got blown away, i used a non-power one since i can adjust that one by hand and it hasn't bothered me at all.
Still looking for an answer as to whether the factory wiring is already there in the harness. I'm not interested in stringing wiring myself. I'll only do this if the factory connectors are there and taped back to the harness.
It's really not that hard to wire the mirrows if you really want them. You can go to Amazon.com and get the mirrows. They come with a plug on them, then you run the wires to the switch that goes on the door panel and then to the fuse box. Thats all it takes if you want them bad enough. If i'm not mistaken it's only 2 wires a ground and a hot wire.

I might give it a shot someday if I get some spare time. I have a lot of other things higher on the list.
Power mirrors were not an option on these trucks til the 92 model year so no wiring would have been in place. Overlaying the wiring from a newer truck into your 90 should be quite doable though. The inboard stabilizer arm mount point on the inner door skin may not be there on a pre 92 door, but that should be easy to overcome with a good drill & the proper size bit. The mirror wiring through the A-pillar and across the firewall is integrated with the power window wiring so if you have the power windows you could either sub in the entire 92+ sub-loom or just leave it dormant. If you come across some of those rare heated mirrors found only on some late 96 Broncos, either wire in the feature or SELL them to someone who will use the feature - & pay you a good price for those short production run items.
