84 broncoII starter issue
So I bought this 84 b2 with the 2.8 v6 and 4 speed manual transmission. Just put a brand new starter in it and it worked for a day and then sounded as if it there were teeth missing off of the flywheel. I pulled the started spun the motor over and the flywheel is missing no teeth however they are a little chewed up as well as the teeth on the starter gear, but neither are so bad that they wouldn't mesh if properly aligned. but as of right now they are makeing no contact when you attempt to crank the engine over. Is there some way to shim the starter closer to the flywheel?

Sounds like it has been apart before and when it got put back togeather the dowel pins that are in the block got pushed in or they are missing I had that same problem on a in line 6.If they are not in there it will not line up properly and it will grind the gear off
