Checking intake for leaks

I made up one of the leak detectors for the intake and didn't get much out of it when I had the regulator set at 20 psi. I then cranked a little more in there and finally got some air to come out of the passenger side of the intercooler boot. How much air do u have to put in there to get a good test out of it with out blowing something apart?

I wouldn't go over 35psi, with some tuning a stock turbo will see 30psi so that would be sufficient, I dont think you should "blow" anything apart below 50psi. Just my opinion though.

How can I find out how much I'm putting in. Checked it with a tire gauge and it wouldn't show anything on the gauge. Would my boost gauge show howmuch is in there?

I use regulator on air source, Boost gauge if mechanical should show the psi, if there are no leaks.

Big Al thanks for the help. Ya my gauge worked just like you said. Got the leak fixed and it blew the detector off while I was filling it and it scared the hell out of me. All is good. Is it supposed to leak air out of the ccv? I had to plug it with my finger and it was really starting to hold the pressure.
