Question Pulling turbo for rebuild...other mods to do while its off?

Getting parts ordered to replace my leaking up pipes at back of turbo. Figure that while the turbo is off I will rebuild it. Truck is stock and my daily driver so not looking to go to extremes but wonder what else I should do while turbo is off. Also is changing to a WW in turbo since its apart worth it in my case? Soon to be upgrading intake filter and going to full 4" exhaust. Any suggestions would be mighty appreciated! Thanks in advance

depending on the temperature where you live, in the winter. If not freezing, and you dont plan on using the EBPV as a jake brake, you can gut it, from the pedestal. Also, install new o-rings on the pedestal, where the turbo sits. Foil delete, off "charge" i.c. pipe, rebuild the fuel bowl, HPx and FRx from Clay (riffraffdiesel.com), 50 cent mod.....list can go on, bud.

There's a little clamp that goes on the passenger's-side fuel line that eventually wears through with the vibration. It causes a heckuva' fuel leak when it does.

Now is the time to inspect it, and add appropriate abrasion resistance.

Trace the 5/16 fuel line off the fuel bowl that goes to the back head on the passenger side. You will see the clamp that Pop's is talking about unless it has been removed.

What ^^Barry said^^.

You haven't pulled the turbo yet, have you? It becomes obvious when you do.

If you can find an aircraft-type, rubber-covered Adel clamp, that's ideal.

Thanks! I saved that page a few days ago and since I will also be changing glow plugs (should have mentioned in original post) I was planning on rechecking the torque and doing 50 cent mod.

I should have mentioned I have that at the top of my list also. By the time I get on here at night my brain is tired and I forget to include all pertinent info!
Trying not to spend a small fortune as we are going on vacation end of April but since I will be pulling a travel trailer I need to fix the important stuff before then

I've done this on my F-250 and will do it on my Excursion soon. Cured the turbo surge on my F-250 while towing our travel trailer and 5th wheel.

X2 with white Buffalo.

I did this to my truck and i used to get a pretty bad surge when pulling anything or when i put my foot in it. Everything runs smooth now, no more surge.
