New to me excursion, Need some help please

I just bought a 2000 excursion 2wd xlt that looks brand new inside and out. It has a v10 and 4.30 rear with 91000. Oh and I only paid $5000 for it.

This sight is awesome.
I have already fixed the tranny dust cover making noise and replaced it with a new 1/8 piece I made. I even made a small notch for any water that may get in there. This saved me a lot of $$$$$

I also found out how to tighten my shifter. Thanks!!!

Now I want to install a Gibson SS CAT back system. Since the X is 2wd it sits pretty low. How hard will it be to change the exhaust on stands and ramps? I may have a lift available but not sure yet. My local mechanic will charge me $75 to install it if need be. Should I just let him do it?
I dont want any thing to loud due to towing and its a family vehicle. But I do want to open up some flow and my stock is starting to rust out. Is the Gibson a good choice? Is there one better?

The next upgrade is the shocks. I think I may get the RS9000xl's. I am wondering how easy this is to do at home. Where is the cheapest place to get these? Any tips on install? I will eventualy air bag it and or add a rear sway bar.

Thanks in advance for al the help.

I got my Ranchos at 4wheelonline.com for $325 to the door. Rancho has specials all the time with rebates and such. They are easy to do in the driveway w/o a lift. I'd pay someone $75 for the exhaust though if you got it lol.

$75 sounds more than reasonable to avoid the headache of doing it in your driveway. I would jump on that.

So here it is....
I tried calling 4wheelonline for 2 days and only talked to someone 1 time. They would not answer their phone. I waisted 3 hours each day trying to get someone to answer. When I did talk to someone I told them that TruckAddOns had the Gibson SS exhaust for $467 and they would sell the shocks to me for $301. 4wheelonline wanted $709 for the same exact exhaust. They said they would not match the price because it was to much of a price differance. TruckAddOns gave me a heck of a deal $768 & free shipping for 4 RS9000XL's and a SS Side swept Gibson exhaust. Plus the $100 debit card from Rancho makes the total eventually spent $678. My mechanic said as long as he doesnt need any other parts it would only run me $60 to have the exhaust installed. Not bad in my opinion.

Had I seen this, I could've warned about 4wheelonline's customer service. If you ever have the chance to deal with them, don't. I'd sooner take my business elsewhere and pay more than deal with them.

Jamerian, Like I posted in my original post I did have this too. I waisted a 1/4 tank of gas trying to isolate this darn rattle/sound. After a few searchs on this site I found it to be the dust cover in front of the Tranny. It is held on with 2 13mm bolts. It is only an inspection plate so no fluids will come out if removed. I recomend removing it and tracing it to a 1/8 piece of aluminum. I tried to bend it and it worked ok but as thin as the original one was I was afraid when it got hot it may deform and start to rattle again. !/8 wont deform or bend like that. I hope this helps and is your problem. Mine did it at exactly 2250 and when accelerating hard either from a stop aor up a hill.

Good Luck and welcome to the site
