does anyone know anything about
"eaton auto heater model 55-105 12v" its whats in the cab of my project truck and i was wandering if it was a upgrade heater or an after market one.
parts repair / rebuild advice as it currently is not working and i cant see putting in original heater as this is such a neat and small unit, if working.
thanks for any help

It sounds aftermarket to me.

What's wrong with it? If the core leaks, replace it if it's corroded, or patch it if it is frost-split.

If the fan doesn't run, find out if it's the motor or the wiring to it (or the switch). If the motor is dead, scrounge a similar one from another heater.

Angus,

Since you brought it up. How would you go about finding a replacement core for an aftermarket heater? I have one, but not sure how good the core is. I'm hesitant to use it unless I can find a source for a new core...

Cruiser,

I keep yours in mind if I can't find a heater core. Is it 12 volt? Thanks.

Greatnorthwoods:

If you can't track down the original manufacturer and get a replacement through them, a radiator shop could make up a new core for you (for a price...). Or, hunt around the scrap yard for a core which can be persuaded to fit, maybe by splicing the pipes, or cutting some different holes in the heater case.

Or if you want a like-new aftermarket heater, buy a new one. There's got to be some models that haven't changed since the 1950's.
