I was installing a Lokar kick down cable kit on my 50 F100 w/460 C6 tonight and noticed a problem. The kick down shaft coming out of the trans doesn't seem to be attached to anything. It turns freely and doesn't spring back when the cable is pulled. Is this normal?

nope.. there is a spring and a rod attached on the inside..
the outer lever should move at most 45 degrees
