If you search the threads on this site you will find an excellent step by step post with photos and everything you need. It takes a couple of hours but it is not technically difficult - just quite a few steps.
I can only add that the spark plug threads should be lubed with anti-seize compound before installation. With aluminum heads, there is always the possibility of the plug threads locking to the threads in the cylinder head, and that is damaging and expensive. When you go to install the new plugs, be sure to start the threads by hand to insure that they are not cross threaded. If you have clean threads, you should be able to run the plug down to where the seat touched the head by hand, using a socket and extension. Then tighten to spec.[not much...]
I am about ready to do mine, and was religious, but not fanatic about doing the threads in my old Escort with an aluminum head. I used Permatex, and it seemed to work.
Any other thoughts out there on anti-seize compounds to use....??

Permatex has three different Anti-Seize compounds. One just called Anti-Seize, one with copper and the other with nickel. The TDS mentions uses but only the copper mentions the use on O2 sensors. The regular stuff mentions spark plugs.
I have a tube of the regular stuff that I know that I'v used on O2 sensors although they come with with a dap of something on them! Never had a issue afterwards though.
On the page which is currently #3 of the forum... You should be able to search for:
"how to replace your v 6 escapes spark plugs" and find it... I think.
Yabbut. I said nothing about a 2004 .. The title in quotes was the title from the post.
I would have searched for 'replacing spark plugs', figuring there are only two basic engines involved - the 4 banger and the v6. Hmm...
I pressed the search button at the top of the page. typed in "replace spark plugs" in the "keywords" box on the left, clicked on "escape & escape hybrid" in the 'search in forums' box and pushed "search now" button. it was the 4th entry down in the results.

Autozone sell a shall pack of anti-seize for spark plug replacement. 1 pack will do all 6 plugs and it is about 1.29.
they also have the COP boot lube to help contact, ease of install and moister prevention.
