Just curious if anyone on here is interested in an aftermarket idle controller? The intent would be to allow the stock PCM control the first minute or two of operation and then have a high idle controller take over and ajust the idle upwards slowly as oil temps increase (over say 5-10 minute period). The unit might max out close 2400 rpm and have a shutoff above say 70-90 deg C or something like that. The idea here is to allow a truck to be remote started in extremely cold weather and not have wet stacking or oil contamination issues AND get the truck defrosted and fully warmed in a 5-10 minute period.
I was talking to a fella tonight who has the capablity to build such a unit but it wouldn't likely make sense unless we planned to build a few for others. Anyway, like I said, just gauging interest here at this point. If there is enough interest, we'll get a prototype in the works (I may anyway).
I still can't believe this noone has built something like this yet!
Cheers, JC
PS - To clarify, this would have similar, BUT DIFFERENT, functionality to that of the standard SEIC mod.
Sounds interesting to me. I would be a customer as long as the cost is not too high. I want a DashDaq or similar device but don't wanna part with $400 yet.

Hey ruschejj, the DashDaq looks great, my question is whether or not is is strictly info, or if it loads a tuner? I don't want to load a tuner (once I buy) but like the info provided by this device.

Thanks much.
The Dashdaq is a monitor, and CAN (with optional programming) also managing installing/uninstalling tunes on different vehicles.
(I just installed one on my 6.4)..
there are all kinds of things you can monitor.. std OBD signals, and then vendor and model specific signals.
see the Drew Technologies site.
lately they have added GPS, Music, and Video support.

I agree on idle shut down, especially if it would be canceled if you put the key back in. In other words so you could leave it on while in and out of quick stops without leaving key in ignition. One concern would be how it installed and warranty issues. Ford had an idle controller you could put in in the 7.3L, so would love a factory option like that.
Yeah, I was wondering if the APCM could be modified for this purpose as well. Would save redesigning something new. This just seems like such a simple thing and I am thinking would be incredibly useful in cold climates getting daily driven diesels warmed up and windows defrosted.
