hey guys.......i was at the bar this weekend and guess what!!!! i was sitting at a table next to.....2 ford mechanics talking about the closed and open loop fuel system of the early 90's ford trucks. i don't know if they work together or not but, they were in there work uniforms. 1 guy was saying that it will go into a closed loop fuel system above and below 2000 rpms re-guardless if the engine was cold or at running temp but, would only be wasting fuel at lower rpms. the other guy was saying that it will go into a closed loop system at 2000 and higher and staying there and having 3.73 to 4.10 gears for a small block ford would also help with mileage. now i'm confused . i was under the impression that a closed system would happen if rpms stay above 2000. i am running 3.90 gears and at 55 mph i am pushing around 2200 rpms if i remember correctly. i haven't driven my truck for about 7 months. i do like my gears and i am just wondering what is fact and what is fiction. thanks
