Free

In light of all that has happened starting back on Sept. 11, 2001 I believe the word FREE should be taken out of dictionaries.
I can't think of anything that is free anymore.

Free advice doesn't come cheap anymore cuz no one listens. Buy one get one free, ya right first you have to pay for one.

Free checking come on they got your money don't they!

You're not free to do as you please or you will offend someone.

Free cup of coffee with a fillup, sure!

Free wash with 8 gallons or more. Right on.

I got 2 water beds taking up space in the basement, nobody wants 'em, for FREE! But then it wouldn't be free as you would have to spend your $1.70+ a gallon gas to come get it.

Ever see a aisle in whatever store you're walking thru with an arrow pointing to "the FREE AISLE". I bet not.

Water which isn't so free anymore is becoming scarcer which each day that passes.

Sunshine sure it's free, just what till skin cancer starts growing all over your bod and the Dr. bills are adding up.

You can't even get some free (this is a family site) without buying dinner or movie or please take her out all night with dinner and a movie. Nothing free about that.

I hope someone can prove me wrong on this cuz I could use some free you know.

I'll probably be bashed for this but who cares, this is for general conversation and therefore I will say what I feel about this topic.

Most things in life are not free they come with a price even friendship sometimes comes with a price. But there is yet one thing in this world that is still free. That is LOVE I don't mean the love that these egotistical peace morons are talking about but true love. You stated that you are married in you signature that is the love I mean you do things freely for your wife I assume because you love her. but if this is not a good enough example then lets look at the love of a child now we as adults could learn a lot from children for there love is unconditional and forever.

But yet there is another LOVE that surpasses all others that is the love of GOD let me ask you this, could you watch your child being murdered if it would save the rest of the world? Well that is what GOD did for you and me. He watched JESUS murdered to be a sacrifice for us, so we can be free in him. a good example of this is on our web page http://www.drivingwithchrist.com/ChristianStories.htm read the could you do it story.

so you see free is still a wonderful word and it has meaning unfortunately we with our complicated wisdom that is nothing more than folly have made it so hard to see the simple things in life we don’t have to rush around like scared cattle or sheep when what we need to do is slow down and enjoy what and who we have in our life and be thankful for it.

Sorry for the length of this post, and let the flaming begin!!!

I think the problem comes when we confuse freedom for liberty. Because of the country we (most of us anyway) live in, we have unprecedented liberty. But that liberty has been bought and paid for many times with the blood of our nation's patriots. As we have seen as recently as Sept. 11 2001 there are those in the world who are jealous of and want to take our liberty away from us. There are also factions within our own government who want to limit our liberty. We shall have liberty only as long as we are willing to pay the price for it.

There is no such thing as "free". There is a price to be payed for everything in this world. There are consequences and a price to be payed for every action. You have the liberty to not hold a job and the price to be payed is that you won't live as well as those who work. You have the liberty to say I don't want to go to college and the price is that you won't earn as much as those who do. You have the liberty to say I will eat only candy and the price is either increased medical and dental bills or your teeth will rot and fall out. You even have the liberty to murder someone, but of course the price is life in jail or execution when caught.

You can say I don't like the price of what I have decided to do. You can say the price isn't fair. But it doesn't matter. The price still exists and you still have to pay it.

One of the greatest problems in the USA today is the mindset that we can avoid paying the price for our decisions.

Hwy, I will split 50-50 with you about love. The love of, and for God is free and is a wonderful thing. I differ on your thoughts about loving your spouse and/or kids. This love comes with a gargantuan emotional price tag. Have you ever had your wife tell you she loves you but doesn't want to be married to you anymore? Have you ever had one of your children tell you they hate you? Those things are not "free". They "cost" more than anything else I have ever experienced in my life.

Until you are executed like unarmed Priests or Nuns.
Until (well you know...)

Christians, don't confuse free for freedom. There are still plenty of places in the world where the love of and for God will cost you your life.

Did I say freedom? I said free. Yes I know there's a difference. I also know what I said.

Both "free" and "freedom" are examples of words that go beyond mere language in depth and importance. Semantic arguments aside, Freedom is a personal perspective colored by experience. Just like reality. Oh-oh, I'm going all 'Leary on you guys...

Interesting replies. I would assume if you worship whatever that is free. At rightfully so. And if you don't believe you have that right and that is also free. So if understand what you have said the last free item left in a world as we now know it is the love of God. I had hoped for something less obvious. Something little known to anyone but a few select individuals or maybe just 1 individual. Thanks anyway.
