First the motor's gotta turn over good, so good batteries is a start. Test the gpr and replace if needed, good fuel and filter in it, crank away. Report back if its smoking while cranking, and anything you can think of that could be helpful. Wait to start light work normal, etc.
The plug for the ICP is oily I heard somewhere that means its no good?
How can I test it?
The truck has poor throttle response.
When you step on it nothing happens , then it slowly picks up revs and will rev up.
I drove it down the street and its the same , it seems dead then will pick up revs and speed.
Any ideas about that?
the map sensor is located in the engine compartment on the passenger side firewall. it has a 3-wire connector on it and a hose going down to the passenger side intake. make sure that hose isnt clogged and that it is connected to the map sensor and intake.
search the forum with the words(map sensor) and you will find a lot of info.
same with the fpr(fuel pump regulator)it is bolted to the drivers side of your fuel bowl, i found good instructions on dissassembly and cleaning at www.dieselorings.com
use the forum search, there is a lot of good information on just about everthing. Good luck with your project.

yeah, there is a lot of FPR cleaning posts on the site here.
Its on the fuel bowl though, there is some screens in there that get clogged up.
The map line is the one your thinking off. check it for cracks or clogs.
If you get the FPR cleaned up, you should be doing alright. I'm sure you found lots of stuff floating around after its sat for awhile and its just all collected in the fuel bowl.
You can take the FPR right off the bowl in the truck and clean it if your carefull.
