arc starter for welder
anyone ever seen an item that u use too help srike an arc while welding? it looks like a block. i saw it somewhere and now i cant find it. i want feedback cause i havce a 70 am stick welder but is soooo hard to use cause everytime i try to start an arc the rod just sticks to the metal. i want to see if this helps or not. i no the machine is small and that this is why the rod sticks. i have no problems with the gas machine at the farm.

Find a chunk of aluminum plate or block. I think this will work for what you describe. The weld won't stick but will still draw an arc. Draw the arc and then move onto your work. A nice big aluminum plate makes an excellent welding table for this purpose.
