a pulling idi would be cool but the time and money to get were u would want it , i might consider a 2wd fummins ford parts with a cummins heart
Cummins would allot better but it would fun to try but they wouldn't allow it unless they had a open class. I would try it with an IDI if they would allow it. Never know. If you loose bad thats what is expected but if you came in the top few better hind all the rope and cut the lower limbs off. Be some sad people.
class we used to run in. Actually is was 5800 lb superstock.. Pulled for several years but it was time to move on. Truck is still in the barn. Ford of coarse.
Pretty cool catfish. I'm no stranger to pulling myself, but we pull tractors. I'm also a good friend/neighbor to the Bunnages. They pull a multi-engine Super Modified (Takes a Lickin) with the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League (Louisville Champs 2011, 2nd in points 2010).
Is seems to me like some org. in IL or IN used to pull the 2wd and 4wd trucks in the same class, but they allow the 2wd to weigh 500lb heavier. I did a quick search, but couldn't find it.
Anyway, you might be right, but I'll have to agree to disagree
yea the way I figure it, wiht that low gearing in the tranny and rearend.........so long as I can find traction I should be able to drag that sled any direction I want to
If your talking about going 2wd it won't do much compared to a 4x4 (in the class you would be in. Around here street stock diesel weight is 8200 with that 450 you wouldn't be able to add much weight to the back for traction. A modified 2wd is very different then what you would have, and second you would have no option for low range which is what most guys run because you have alot more slow gears to pick from depending on the track. Just my pair of pennies
I know its a cummins but can you compete with this guy.....no. could you have fun at an amateur event, absolutely. his 4 wheels are slipping the whole time and its a full pull.

that is probably one of the most awesome sounds i have heard come from a truck. you think 150lbs is real? Ive seen cummins on the web that were disintegrated at 100. Friggin crazy and yeah i would love to see a post of what they use in one pass. Like the pro top fuel dragsters when they make a pass, they burn about 5 gallons of nitromethane in one pass. 7000 horse power all from a hemi engine weighing 496 pounds. granted it takes 900 horsepower just to run the supercharger, but you get the idea! lol.
well scratch that plan, I stopped by the place today and the dude wants 5 grand for the truck. I think he's off his damn rocker lol. Ya cant hardly close the drivers side door its rusted so bad.....
well yeah, you didnt get the memo? our trucks doubled in price overnight hahaha. I got another offer from the guy that wants my truck(i think he just got out of an institution) lol. He offered 7500, but then got cold feet when i told him its registered in the states. I laughed and said keep looking, its mine.
