I have a 2003 6.8L 4x4 Limited. I noticed while I was backing my 29 TT up it seems to me the steering is really heavy. This was the first time I have driven the truck with the TT but at extremely low speeds it was almost as though it didn't have power steering. I checked the power steering fluid and it looked fine. Is this normal? Any suggestions?
I experienced the exact same thing backing up my car hauler the other day. As soon as it started rolling it turned easy. I dont like turning the wheel on any vehicle without rolling some, but it was strange to me also.
Mine has 285's but it did feel like turning a cars wheel with the engine off. Never does it forward, but only when I stop while backing. Strange indeed.
Were any of you on the brakes (driving two footed) while backing up? If so, the front suspension geometry is such that if you're stopped and on the brakes, you can't turn the steering wheel more than 180 degrees or so.
I dont recall 2 footing it or not, however mine wouldn't turn at all from where it was until I started rolling again. You might have a point though being on the brakes would stop the wheels from turning themselves making it hard to turn the wheel.
