Ok, I am done with the A/C installation on my 54 f100. For my next trick I would like to install a power cowl vent accuator. Has anybody installed one of these before? If so, would you use that supplier/manuafacturer again. How difficult was the installation process? So far I have been told by two suppliers that the price is $130-139. Does that sound right? And just so you don't think I'm lazy, the reason for the electric accuator is because I am installing the Rod Doors below-dash cover which covers up the vent handle. Thanks, John T
The $130. to 139.00 sounds reasonable. As reasonable as anything is nowadays. Heck, if an electric wiper motour to retrofit into one of these things can cost $180.00, then why not.
Figure, the engineering that went into the bracketry to make it work and the low volume this guy will do on these things.....
And it's good thing you explained why you wanted to go with an electric one, I was all set to trash you good. I had at least two really good shots worked up and my mentor 'fenders would likely have been good for a few as well.
Electric would be cool. Anything but welding it shut. I know I am hung up on the keeping the body somewhat stock thing. I just can't help it. You ought to try to do something like Un-smooth a door and put the handles back on. Good thing I'm not a neuro-surgeon I guess.
Thanks for the comebacks. I'm with you fenders, I never have liked shaving off handles, etc... I like the old stock look with just a hint of speed, ie tires/wheels, dual exhaust, ect. The super customs are OK, but I usually get the feeling they were just results of huge gobs of money to get that shock effect from people when they walk up to them. If the truck is too perfect and pretty, then it becomes a trailer queen because they owner does not want to ever get it dirty. Thanks again, John
