Front brakes dragging - need help

82 f150 300/6

Replaced both front calipers, hoses, master cylinder, rear hose, cylinders and shoes. Drove for about 150 miles and right front brakes start dragging to the point of smoking. Left front seems to be ok. Don't understand what may be going on. Differential valve? Random bad reman caliper? Pretty disappointed after all my work. Any tips appreciated.

Dissapointing is an understatement. Only things I can think of are, kinked/pinched hard line to right front brake, sticking caliper piston or sticking caliper slider.

A few years ago I had a jeep Cherokee. Drove it 2-3 times a week to a town, 12mls there, 12mls back, no problem. Then had to go another 8 mls and front caliper drags. Had a small adjustable wrench with me so opened bleed screw, made no difference. Turned out that the caliper piston stuck when it got a little hotter in city driving. Got a repair kit snd problem solved.
In other words yours may be temperature related. Might be worth opening the bleed screw when it happens, just to eliminate restriced fluid return.

Another member (bashby) said ford had problems with their early phenolic pistons swelling when they got hot. Seems that was my problem as well. Bought some NOS motorcraft calipers from rock auto and I bet they were so old they fell under that senario. Anyway, I am planning on getting a steel piston repair kit so that should end the issue.

The caliper pistons in my Jeep were phenolic but the problem only occured after 100,000mls.
You would have thought Motorcraft would have been OK for at least that.
Good thinking on the repair kit.
