hey i was just wondering what kind of leaf springs i can get for my 2006 ford f150 crew cab 4x4. i want some thing a little more stronger because i haul a trailer alot and dont like it squating that much when i do. i have seen those add a leaf kits but wasent sure about them.thanks.
There are add a leaf kits that will do what your asking. Last yeAr I bought timbren helper springs. They replace the factory bump stops and add load capacity without effecting the ride height or quality when unloaded. They have worked well for me.
I have Add-A-Leaf auxilary springs on my F150 for towing my enclosed car hauler. They have been working out real well for me. When I dropped the trailer on the hitch before the Add-A-Leafs, the rear dropped down 3.5 to 4 inches with the car in the trailer. Now it drops down about 1/2 to 3/4" or about the same as my 05 SD 10000# gvwr diesel did. I had to fabricate my own mounting hardware as the Add-A-Leafs are 1/2" narrower than the rear leafs of the truck. A local brake and spring service center has told me that I can add a couple of leafs to the springs for a more permanent arrangement, so I may go that route. Either way is less expensive than purchasing the Max-Payload springs from the dealer and less hassle.
