Hi all, I just bought a 1996 ranger and i have this annoying beeper that goes off after i start it i unhooked the wire at the seat belt looked for 1 at the emergency brake but couldnt find 1. sometimes the beep stops after about 5 mins but comes back on after turning a sharp corner. it sounds like it is coming from the dash in between the glove box and heater control does any 1 have any idea what it is, where i can find it and unplug it? Thanks for your help
Try looking up under the bottom edge of the dash behind the heater control area. There should be a couple of small (1 & 1/2 inch square) plastic boxes together that are white or gray in color. One is the beeper that has a two or three wire plug going to it that you can unplug. Let it beep when you go to unplug it so you can tell if you got the right one.
Are you sure it is for the seatbelt and not for the airbag system? If the airbag warning lamp fails in the instrument cluster, the restraint control module will sound a beeper instead.
Check and make sure the airbag light comes on when you first turn the key to the "Run" position.
I searched behind the heater controls and the raido no little boxes of any kind there also there is no air bag light on the insturmant panal im not even sure it has a air bag the steering wheel says it has 1 but there is not 1 on the passenger side i took that panel off too. where might i find this restraint control module? ive searching so much now it sounds like the beep is coming from every where.
Are you sure the beeping isn't coming from behind the passenger kick panel? My son's 95 B2300 has this same annoying beeper, and there's no air bag light visible. The beeps are coming from behind the kick panel.
Could it really be as simple as the air bag light needs a new bulb? Wish I had known that before I pulled the cluster out to replace dash light bulbs, all but one was burnt out......
For reference, I get 5 sets of 5 beeps, then it shuts up. For about an hour, when it repeats the 5 x 5 beeping.
i had an explorer do the same thing. had no air bag light either. pulled the cluster, replaced the bulb..all is well. the bulb is actually part of the system that checks itself every start-up.

Was this the 5 x 5 beeps like I described? If so, I guess the cluster is coming back out to replace that bulb. Sounds much easier than ripping out the kick panel, and taking a sledgehammer to that beeper. It is THAT annoying.........
i cant remember if it was but it was a series and would keep going over a period of time well driving.....very annoying, i'm well aware of how annoying it is lol
if your not getting an airbag light on startup, then thats what it is for sure.

Ahhh the silence is golden i changed the air bag light bulb and the beeping stopped. but the light the light does not go out it blinks in a series of 4 blinks pause 2 blinks pause then starts over but the blinking light is alot less annoying than that beep. Any ideas on what would keep the light blinking? Thanks so much for the tips on how to stop the beeping!
Well, I guess if the light does this on my son's truck, I can always stick some paint on the bulb. Anything would be better than that dern bleepin' beepin'.......
