first time....for a 5er
well guys i installed my 5er hitch the other day i put the rails in i got from a friend and made my mount rom the frame to the rails out of 3/8"x3"x4" iron. dad has the hitch for our 26.5 foot camper so borrowed that today.
well i went out to pickup a free camper thts all the guy said i didnt know what kinda hitch it was turns out its a 1972 20 ish foot 5er.
my ? is if i take it to bear frame can i make it a car trailer? i realise i need to beef up the from a bit but it is a 3500lbs. frot and rear axle to make a ending weight of 7000lbs.
i cant get thm to load i dont know how actully but i do need to make the hitch a wee bit longer because i about drug the frameon the groundon some of the bumps

yes you can make it into a car trailer, I did it with a 40ft 5er. tore it down to bare frame and got some 2x6 oak planks, had some ramps made that locked into a custom rear bumper that also got some flush mount lights. Good luck with it.

Well that trailer made a trip from NH to AL twice, towed with a F350 V10 S-Cab dually, first trip it was loaded with an 05 Scion Xb, a 91 VW GTI and some other misc. things. Pulled into a scale and weighed it.... Total weight was 17,900lbs. Second trip it hauled a 1950 Dodge and some other things, no weight for this trip. Trailer did excellent no issues what so ever. Still have it in fact, trying to sell it since selling the F350 we have no way to tow the trailer.
