front shock problem on a 94

I have a question that maybe someone can answer. For years I have been running into this problem with the front shocks on my 94 1ton 4x4 with a diesel.
I keep blowing out shocks due to bottoming the shock itself out. I have tried several different brands and Ford keeps saying that I am using the wrong ones?

front shock problem on a 94

Hi-
Hope this helps. Shock absorbers aren't designed to keep the suspension from bottoming out. That's the job of the spring. The shocks purpose is to control the movement of the spring, as in to not let it compress and rebound like a slinky for an uncountable amount of times whenever it hits a bump in the road.

You could get super stiff shocks and/or add more per wheel, but that would be cheating the engineering. The right way to solve this is heavier rate springs.

Well my front springs are only a year old and they were costly as we all know. I was thinking that adding a leaf might help, but dont want to much in the front as far as raised height as my truck sits level from factory.
Thanks for advice
