I know this is a very old post but hopefully someone has solved this. I have the same problem. Started on a long trip when I got off an interstate exit. Never a hint before. I have replaced upper amd lower ball joints, steering gear and pump, tie rod end, rotors and pads, tires, shocks. Each time hoping for a cure. Mine only happens when braking between 60-40 mph. Before new tires it was 50-40 mph. Haven't touched rear brakes yet.
OK, sorry I did not update this. I did a few things so not sure which one fixed it.
It was in the brakes for sure.
Because the brakes had all been worked on I was reluctant to blame it on the brakes. Alignment shop said alignment was good but he thought he saw some warp in at least one rotor.
I replaced the rotors and calipers.
Because this is a southern truck I also began to suspect the ABS had never or seldom been activated. This could work like a line lock if it was sticking.
I took it out into a pasture when it was wet. Get it up to speed and brake it HARD. Activate the ABS module several times. You need to hear and feel it thumping. Then I bleed the brakes until i got new fluid out every wheel. Then into the pasture again to repeat ABS cycling.
The bleed again one full reservoir full to get anything freed up by the ABS.
The problem was gone and never returned.
I have an EX now and hate the brakes on it, no shudder but feel weak. I have replaced with performance stuff from summit still feel week.
Tried bleeding brakes all the way around, didn't change anything, still have the vibration. I also changed upper and lower ball joints again after finding one worn. Still the same. I'm going to unhook the abs today and see if it makes any kind of difference. I don't know what else it could be.
Sounds like a warped rotor and or a sticky caliper slide. I never got mine to go away until I replaced all 4 rotors at the same time. I also took extra time cleaning up the slide pins and all contact areas. The calipers have to be able to move in and out. To me this is the main cause of warped rotors. People put pads on but dont clean and lube the slides.
Have to activated the abs by locking your brakes up on a slick surface? I use wet grass but a dirt road would probably work. You need to feel the abs thumping to make sure it is not stuck. disconecting might not change anything.
