Vacuum Hose Routing Question

I have a 1980 Ford F100 I6 300 Flareside w/ 1 bbl carb.

When I bought the barn truck (as it was parked for 7 years) I did not notice that the previous owner had ripped out the carb so there was just a mess of hoses.

Though other posts here I have identified most items on my diagram

However what are the "A" and "B" with the circles around them?

What is the difference between a solid line and the dash line?

Hoses which have a valve on them, for example :VCV, TVV, show a shaded piece and a clear piece. I assume these show the part. For example The VRDV shows half shaded and half clear. I think the part is colored on one side and clear on the other. I just want to make sure that I am correct here.

I am sure I have a few more questions but this should keep me working for now.

Thanks,
Richard

Could the "A" and "B" be notes on another part of the diagram?
Could the "----" lines indicate oil in them?
Sorry just a WAG

The solid lines in the diagram are vacuum lines.
The dotted lines in the diagram are evaporative emissions lines. Carries fuel vapor.

The A and B could refer to diagnostic instructions, or adjustment instructions on the adjustment and specs procedures located next to the hose diagram on the same sticker. It can also refer you to the shop manual.

The shaded areas on the various switches or valves are indeed to show you which way they are installed into the system. This should also be written on the valve somehow. Like the TVV will have "Carb" with an arrow on it for proper installation.

Thanks. I'll check my shop manuals for the circle A & B items.

The fuel vapor lines (dotted) make sense.

Thanks for the assistance.
