I have a 64 f-100 with a 352 and a np 435 in it. it was installed after the prior owner caught the 292 a fire.
he said that they came from the same truck. My question is- What year could it have been ? the 352 has oil fill tube in the intake and a draft tube on the back of the intake.This is just the beginning of my retore and I'm pondering on putting in a c6.
Clod, That sounds like a early 60 car engine with the road draft tube (pre pvc). A C-6 will work behind it just fine. Don't forget the pilot bushing when you make the change.
apreciate the input. early 60's is what i was thinking it obviously was a swap out on the donor truck. the casting number on the head is c4ae-6090 c(or)g any input on the head quality would help in my decision making. i'm opting for the eldebrock performer package( intake and cam) with the 600cfm.work on the bottom end is reconditioning only. i would like to rough port the heads and increase the exhaust valve size. from what i've been able to dig up is that most heads on the fe's are 2.02 on the intake.
also you mentioned the pilot bearing is ther a size difference?? and would i have drive shaft length problems?wher would the vacuum for the modulator hook up, carb or intake?? sorry this is so long i'm just eager to get started!!!
These are good heads they are the same basic casting as the 427 LR the valve size should work good with the 352 but a set of CJ sized valves can be installed if you need better flow. I have a set with the larger valves that I am planning on putting on the 428 I am building . Unless I find a set of edelbrock performers for what I want to pay for them. 352s are great running engines Frod run them in the late 50s early 60s in the Nascar T-birds and did well with them. Me I like manual trannys but if you want to run the C6 It is a fairly straight forward swap.

quick word to the wise there clod! have plenty of friends or a cherry picker handy when you pull the stock cast iron manifold- ford wanted to make sure that thing would stop a tank shell! leaning up and over the fender and wrestling with that intake just maight make you lose your religion! -good luck- dave
Thanks fella's for the info. I"m still not sure of the larger valves, the 2.02's does seem lacking in flow but I also don't want to loose my lower end torque. I just wonder with bowl cutting the ports 3angling the valves rough porting the heads' and gasket matching intake to the heads with grinding off the ehaust port and opening up the ex. valve to about1.62 and run the eldelbrock dual pattern cam if the 2.02's would flow decient and still keep my pulling torque????/ oh the ponderings of a man and his FORD. I would like to keep standard tranny but when it's 4:30 am and your traveling to the frozen wastelands to get to your favorite duck hole, that auto sure does make life easier And in the arena of the intake weight class;
I appreciate your wisdom. I'
ve been for warned on that very subject by a guy who learned the hard way. That is why i'll be jerking it when the engine is on the stand. Apreciate your concern.
