I also would like to know this. I have always been told that you can use merc 5 in the mark 8's and it is the same just an upgraded version of the past. And I have it in all my cars.
I was even told once by a Technical school teacher that you could put ford tranny fluid in a chevy and it would shift tighter. So when I built my 79 chevy 4X4 I told them to use mercon. He said Are you sure? I said yeah. That tranny is still shifting 2nd and chirpin' them in a 4x4. So there is something to ford tranny fluid .
