how are the stock Ford limited slip axles for off roading?
Optikal tells me all the time he leaves it in 2wd in the snow for fun! My truck can't do that. It aint happenin. Stuck.
Would they be good for off roading? I would think that although it would be much better than open differential, that one tire would be spinning quite a bit faster than the one gripping.
Obviously full out lockers are the best. I want one, well i want two.
Oh yes, another question! I have a big 44 printed on the bottom of my front differential. Does that mean dana 44? are they good?
I put a stock Ford Traction Lock in my truck last summer. It was brand new. It really doesn't hold very well. In the snow we had a few weeks ago if I got one wheel on a high spot the other wheel broke loose. It does OK as long as there is lots of torque going through the diff, but at low torque levels it doesn't really seem to do much. I would go with something else for offroading.
