Okay so this is more of a confirmation to my thinking but i need some thoughts.
Yesterday i was up dropping off the roundbale and i hit a stick or tree for that matter but i didnt think of it till today. The truck was shifting like a @#$%$$%@ and i had to manually shift the 1-2 and 2-3 was only at 45mph and above, so i was a bit freaked out but thought it was the Vacuum Regulator Valve or VRV on the side of the IP, It wasnt. Got to thinking that i had a vacuum tube loose somewhere and sure enough, the stick perfectly lodged itself into the Vacuum Modulator knocking off the vacuum tube and breaking the nipple. Luckily it only broke it off a little and i can squeeze the tube just barely on.
My question is aside from the obvious need to replace, i cant remember if it is the black stripe or green stripe and i cant make mine out. Thought about it for a while and looked online and i see both being used. This is for a C6 trans and for the back of the transmission vacuum modulator. green or black. thanks!
If you can't make out the color, just compare how they look. BTW, both replacements *should* be adjustable, meaning they have a screw inside the nipple to fine tune the shift points.
There's more than just green and black stripe modulators. I'd pull the old one out, and clean it well. You might find brown, purple or some other color on it......
We think it's black. I know they have the internal screw to adjust the shift points but just wanted to make sure I got the right one for the trucks. The modulators differ in color by application iirc, right?
Shhh numberdummy has it in a post. Black and purple are e250/350 and f250/350. Broncos and f150/100 etc show the green and no stripe. No stripe for altitude compensation. Whew! Man I hate it when google kicks my ***. Why can I find links to this site through google but not on the forum search......aaaargh! Lol
