engine swap question

Hey guys, my uncle bought an 03 one ton 4 door dually on the internet (I've been suspect since I found out about it). Anyway, he got took. It's got way way more miles on it than he was told (odometer was broke). He has an 03 one ton straight cab single axle truck he was going to sell and use this one cause he wanted more room but still a 7.3. Now he wants to switch motors and maybe tranny since his has so many less miles on it. Stupid question, is there any tricks to removing these or do they come out the top just like normal? Wondering if I should take on the job and make a little extra cash (he's got it to spend, might as well be me as a mechanic somewhere else). Maybe a thread you could point me towards if necessary.

Thanks for the help, Darin

The trick is to remove the grill core support, radiator, intercooler, trans, and power steering coolers, then the motor will come up and out the front, really pretty straight forward and not too difficult at all if you've ever pulled any kind of motor.

Cool, thanks Alan. Pulled many motors, just not in anything this new. Kinda wanted to know the basics, just like you pointed out. Again, thanks.
